Mayo Man Visits Luperon
Chrisitian:
A few weeks ago our first visitor arrived: my Uncle Tom. Tom is from a rural town on the west coast of Ireland so you can imagine how different boat life would be for him. It also just so happened that his flight would land on my sister’s birthday. When he arrived he was burnt out he didn’t sleep on the plane and he had a 6 hour layover in New York before the flight to Pluto Plata.
After hanging out at the pool party for about an hour the time came to go back to the boat, or so we thought. As we made our way down the hill to the to the Las Velas marina, my dad decided to go to the bar to pay for renting the pool and while he was at it get a round of beers and another and another and before we new it it was 11:30 pm and time for us to go back to the boat.
The next day was Sunday October 5, time for New Amsterdam. We left the boat at around 3pm and arrived at 3:30pm after arriving I got a coke while the adults ordered a round of beers. While our uncle was ordering my dad took a picture of him in his Mayo jersey as he was ordering and posted it on the Mayo sub-reddit group and by the end of the day it was the top post on the sub-reddit. After some delicious pizza the adults took a Tuk tuk to pick up the vehicles we would be using tomorrow after another night of staying up till midnight at Las Velas, we went to bed.
The next day we went to the Las Velas parking lot and got on the vehicles; I went on the atv with Tom and my sister went on the scooter with our mom, and then we left. We were driving to Punta Rucia. The drive was long but we had a good time while we were diving and I flew the drone behind us for a while.
The highlight of his stay for me is when we went to the waterfall in Puerto Plata. We had gone earlier when we first arrived in the Dominan Republic, but this was Tom’s first time. We arrived payed and went with our tour guide through the jungle. The walk wasn’t hard on paper but it was mostly uphill, and the walk was hard on the Mayo man but he pushed though. The sound of water was a welcome one and as we submerged ourselves in the cool, refreshing water you cold feel the heat melt away. The first water fall wasn’t a water fall at all but a natural slide carved into the rock by the water rushing through after another slide we made it to the main event the 15 foot tall cliff jump. After doing it once I climbed up the steps and went down the adjacent slide in to the pool below. Mayo man loved it all.
After a few more days of staying up till midnight our Uncle Tom went back to the comfort of his family and cool air of Ireland and for the first time in a week we could have a good nights rest.
