Dog Walking

Florence:

We usually wake up around 7 AM on Wednesdays to get ready and leave the boat by 8 am to go to the government dock at 8:15 to  walk a 45 minute walk to a dirt road, from that dirt road, you walk a another 20 minutes to get to CHH, (Coconut Hound Haven, a luxury dog pound in Luperon). I love that sometimes people ask if you want a ride it is always nice after like a hour walk of just heat, sweat, and tiredness. Anyways, once you get to the CHH you walk up a little more and it’s so fun to hear all the dogs bark at you because they are so excited to be walked. Then you usually go to this shaded area that gets a breeze to sit down, drink some water, or eat a snack, and relax after your walk. Then there are some dogs that have private pens because they don’t get along good with other dogs. Some of them you can walk and some of them you can’t because they don’t trust humans and are aggressive. But the ones you can walk are excited friendly and super hot. It’s always hard to catch them once you let them out of the pen but it’s kinda easy once you got the hang of it. Anyways you take the dog(s) that you let out and walk them to the gate including the isolation dogs there’s probably about 10 pens. Some of the pens have 6 or 7 dogs, and some of them have 4 dogs there are also pens that have numbers of dogs in between there isolation dogs have 2 dogs in them though it usually takes us about 2 hours to finish walking all the dogs then we have to take the 45 minute walk back to town. Sometimes we have a van that Callie takes or as I call it “the Callie mobile”. If you’re wondering who Callie is she is the person that organizes the dog walking.

We love to walk our dog buddies each week!
